Shelf life and storage: Pigment dispersions are stable for 12 months from date of production when stored in the originalĬontainers, away from sunlight, at no more than 77☏. Up to 10% TotalBoat Pigment Dispersion can be added to TotalBoat Gelcoat products (up to 12% for red, yellow, and orange). When trying to match a gelcoat color, keep in mind that mixing coloring agents into neutral gelcoat creates darker, bolder colors and white gelcoat produces lighter, more pastel colors. When you get the color you want, just mix in the catalyst and apply the gelcoat. This is especially important when you’re trying to color-match gelcoat, so the gelcoat remains uncatalyzed while you’re tinkering to get the color right. Polyester Resin and Gelcoat Products: Mix pigment dispersions into polyester resin or gelcoat BEFORE adding the MEKP catalyst, because adding the catalyst kicks off the curing process. When mixing pigment dispersions into epoxy, combine the resin and hardener first, stir thoroughly, then add pigment dispersion (up to 10%, but a little goes a long way).
